'Happy Hour' was a series of 24 paintings about the round the clock unhappiness of alcohol dependency.
There was no structure or purpose to my days while I was drinking and time was of little relevance; it was only a measure
of the gap between drinks; money was a far more urgent commodity, it shortened the distance.

In sobriety, time’s significance is all too obvious. The titles of these paintings were written thirty five years ago
as comments on my attitude to education and I lived up to their expectations with ease.
